The Women of Duck Commander: From Heart to Home

The-Duck-Commander-Family-678x1024[1]

I bought the book sitting on our nightstand for my husband at Christmas, the one about this family of bearded, Jesus-loving entrepreneurs who have apparently made a {very good} living out of making duck calls and have their own {hugely popular} reality TV show, Duck Dynasty.

I’ll admit it, how lately I’ve spent a couple nights beside my hubby, tucked together beneath the down comforter for our shared time of reading, holding my own intended read down just far enough so I could scan those pages he spends his laughter on.

But what really intrigues me are the women of the clan, these multi-generational women of grace who walk alongside their men of the woods. With matriarch Ms. Kay leading the line, these women are their own dynasty, these difference-makers who allow us to walk with them as they daily live out their faith.

From engaging in intimate coffee talk in their kitchens to somehow connecting in community with millions of fans, these women are about authentic relationship. And I don’t think it’s because authenticity is the latest catch-phrase; I think it’s simply the way they do life.

Here’s the exciting thing: these gals are joining another family member,  Christian author, speaker and radio host, Dr. Joneal S. Kirby, for a new Christian Women’s Conference that wants to teach us how to do the same.

  1. I am a widow. I am posting to ask if there will be a speaker for those of us Who are a parent of an adult child, grandchildren, and trying to re-arrange our lives to accommodate a reinvention of ourselves and still remain mother and grandmother? The delicate balancing act of Godky grief.
